Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, made an unexpected (and stylish) appearance at the British Fashion Awards on Monday night.

The pregnant royal dressed her baby bump in a black one-shoulder dress designed by Givenchy for the event.

The 37-year-old attended the ceremony to surprise Clare Waight Keller, the designer who created her wedding dress

Meghan presented Clare with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

"It's such a pleasure to be here, celebrating British fashion and British designers, in my new home in the UK," the Duchess told the audience.

Clare, who is the artistic director of Givenchy, praised the royal during her acceptance speech.

"This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life... I can't thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment," the designer told the audience.

👑The Duchess Of Sussex Just Shocked Clare Waight Keller (& Everyone Else) When She Turned Up To Present The Designer With A British Fashion Award👑 Meghan's made several under-the-radar appearances but this one had to be kept under wraps for a special reason: Clare Waight-Keller didn't know Meghan would be presenting her award. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👑What Went Down At The British Fashion Awards👑 Clare Waight Keller (artistic director of Givenchy) knew she was up for British Womenswear Designer of the Year, but she was completely in the dark about who the presenter would be. Joined on stage by Rosamund Pike (both in Givenchy), Markle appeared to thunderous applause. Here are some highlights from her speech: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "When we choose to wear a certain designer, we're not just a reflection of their creativity & vision, but an extension of their values ... [So], I feel especially proud to announce tonight's winner who, yes, is a British designer leading on the global stage with vision & creativity, but also with incredible kindness, which is why when I met her ... 11 months ago, I knew we'd be working very closely together. The winner this evening is Clare Waight Keller." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A totally overwhelmed Keller joined Meghan on the stage & said a few words of her own: “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life... I can't thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.” The pair gave each other a heartfelt hug & exited the stage together—Meghan's arm around Keller the whole way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👑What Meghan Wore👑 Meghan's outfit paid homage to Keller & underlined her speech beautifully. She wore a stunning, one-shouldered custom Givenchy gown to praise Keller. And, driving home her point about choosing designers who share your values, the Duchess of Sussex wore the Wahija cuff by ethical, charitable brand Pippa Small with Tamara Mellon's Karat sandals & simple gold studs with her sleek bun. The look is drop-dead-gorgeous, so enjoy the snaps from this incredibly sweet (& très chic) outing.
