Local stars nominated for Kids' Choice Awards

AKA, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Somizi are just some of the South African celebrities who up for an international award.

Some of South Africa's biggest stars have been nominated for an award at the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Rapper AKA has been nominated in the 'Favourite South African Star' category.

He is up against Somizi, Nomzamo Mbatha, Kagiso Rabada, and Springbok player Siya Kolisi

The 'Fela in Versace' hitmaker shared the news of his nomination on Twitter.

He joked that his daughter Kairo wants to get slimed. 

"Thank You @NickAfrica for nominating me for the #KCA’s 2019... Kairo wants to go to LA and get slimed(me too actually) so let’s get on it!" he tweeted.

Nomzamo is equally excited about her nomination.

"To be seen and voted for as one of the top 5 by the kids of South Africa, just melts my heart as it's a validation of what I do. The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is all about fun and celebration, the biggest kid's party in the world. It's 'un-adult-terated' fun, while honouring kids' opinions, and taps into the kid in all of us," she said in a statement. 

The awards show will take place in Los Angeles on March 23.

DJ Khaled is set to host the show.

The ceremony will air on DStv's Nickelodeon and NickTunes channels at 17:05 CAT on March 24.
