Big news Elle Woods fans - 'Legally Blonde 3' is officially happening.

Reese Witherspoon is reprising her role in the popular MGM movie with the help of some famous writers.

"Some things are just meant to be! I’m SOOO excited to have @mindykaling and @djgoor writing Legally Blonde 3! This is #ElleWoodsApproved!" the actress tweeted.

Reese's media company, Hello Sunshine, is producing the film along with original producers Adam Siegel and Marc Platt. Lauren Neustadter, who is head of  TV and film at Hello Sunshine, is also a producer on the film. 

The first 'Legally Blonde' movie debuted in 2001 and grossed more than $141-million. The film's sequel, 'Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde', was also a big success. It earned over $124-million at the box office when it was released in 2003. 

The last time we saw Elle Woods she had big plans to take over the White House.

Will she succeed in 'Legally Blonde 3"? We can't wait to see what Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have planned for the character.

Mindy,  who recently worked on Netflix's hit comedy-drama - 'Never Have I Ever', says she can't wait to start working on the movie. 

"So excited to be reunited with my friends @ReeseW, Lauren Neustadter and@djgoor to work on this movie. Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people!" the actress and comedian tweeted. 

'Legally Blonde 3' does not have an official release date. Pre-Production was set to take place in 2020 but the coronavirus pandemic has halted all big Hollywood production.
