American rapper Dr Dre had been dealt a major blow in his divorce proceedings.

A judge has ordered the Grammy Award winner to pay his soon-to-be ex-wife, Nicole Young, $293,306 per month in spousal support payments. That's a whopping R4,3-million rand every month!

According to The Blast, Dr Dre will have to make the payments “until the party receiving support remarries or enters into a new domestic partnership, death of either party".

Nicole had originally asked the court for $2-million (R29,436,480). She provided a list of expenses to back up her request. Nicole revealed that she spends $135,000 every month on clothes and $900,000 on entertainment.- among other things.

The couple tied the knot in 1996. Nicole filed for divorce in 2020 - one month after their 24th anniversary.

The Blast reports that the R4,3 million spousal support agreement is temporary, as the couple is still working on their final divorce settlement.

Nicole reportedly signed a prenup when they got married, but she is contesting the agreement. The 51-year-old says the rapper later tore the document up, which she says makes it null and void.

Twitter users had a lot to say about Dr Dre's spousal support. Many vowed never to get married, while some said the money was small change to a man reportedly worth more than $800-million.

Some also said Nicole deserved the payment after more than two decades of marriage.
