Demi Lovato is setting the record straight about the controversial moments in her life. YouTube released the trailer for her new four-part documentary, 'Dancing with the Devil', this week.

The 28-year-old reflects on the 2018 drug overdose that almost killed her and her alcohol addiction.

"I've had so much to say over the past two years, wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened," she says in the trailer.

Demi added: "I've had three strokes, I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 minutes."

The singer chatted about her new documentary during a Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday.

She revealed some shocking details about her overdose.

"I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don't drive a car, because I have blind spots on my vision," People quoted her as saying.

The 'Tell Me You Love Me' singer also revealed that she was unable to read for a few months after the incident.

"It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry."

Despite the many lows in her past, Demi says she is grateful for the lessons she has learned.

"I dealt with a lot of the repercussions and I feel like they are still there to remind me of what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again.

"I'm grateful for those reminders, but I'm so grateful that I was someone that didn't have to do a lot of rehabbing. The rehabbing came on the emotional side," she said.

The trailer for Demi's documentary also features a snippet of her new song, 'Dancing With the Devil'.
