'Deeply humbled': Leona Lewis awarded an OBE

The British singer has been honoured for her contributions to music.

The Crown has given 'Bleeding Love' singer Leona Lewis an OBE.

The Officer of the Order of the British Empire is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in fields such as the arts, science, and public service.

Lewis was recognised for her contributions to music and charity.

"Deeply humbled and grateful for this honour," she said on Instagram. The 40-year-old, who gained fame after winning 'The X-Factor' in 2006,

"Music is my life’s work, and I’ve always believed with a platform comes a responsibility to give back and use our voices for something bigger than ourselves."

King Charles personally presented Lewis with an insignia of the Order during a ceremony this week at Windsor Castle.

She wasted no time changing her name to Leona Lewis OBE on social media, much to the excitement of her fans and music peers.

"Just perfect. Congratulations, love!" Calum Scott said.

Natasha Bedingfield commented: "So happy to see this. Much deserved."

The royal family's official Instagram page shared several pictures from the ceremony. Singer Myleene Klass was also honoured at the ceremony.

"A huge congratulations to everyone who received their honours from The King at today’s investiture at Windsor Castle," the post read.

"Amongst recipients were @LeonaLewis, who has been awarded an OBE for services to music, and @MyleeneKlass, who received her MBE for services to women’s health, miscarriage awareness, and charity."
