Unlike many South Africans, Pearl Thusi, who is currently in Los Angeles, was up during Zuma's address.

She celebrated news that the Rand strengthened against the dollar, and shared a gif of how she thought Thabo Mbeki was taking the news.

Our very own Darren Maule had a special message for Zuma on Twitter.

The East Coast Radio Breakfast Show DJ bid Zuma farewell with some Valentine's Day hearts.

TV presenter Jo-Ann Strauss woke up this morning with a big smile on her face.

"Just woke up from a crazy, beautiful dream ... oh wait, it actually happened 😀 Good morning, South Africa!" she tweeted.

The former Miss South Africa also agreed with a tweet posted by Khaya Dlanga suggesting South Africans get the rest of the week off.

Model and actor Maps Maponyane also woke up in a happy mood, despite tweeting the night before that he did not believe Zuma's resignation was the end of the drama.

"I don't know what it is, but something tells me it isn't all as simple as it seems. There's more to come. The movie 'South Africa' is like 'Fast and Furious', just when you think it's over and done with, another damn one comes out! #ZumaExit #ZumaRecall"

Model Lee-Ann Liebenberg didn't mention anything specific about Zuma's resignation but it seems she was doing a happy dance to celebrate the news.

But not everyone was doing a happy dance over Zuma's fall from grace.

Rapper AKA, who described Zuma as a "G", thanked him for his service.

"Sad to see him go. Eish  But happy that we have shown the world once again that we live in a country where no man or woman is bigger than the movement," he tweeted.

Actress Samkelo Ndlovu did not understand what AKA was sad about.

"But he needed to go though, we have been desperate for new and better leadership for ages now. Ewu🙆🏾 please let this be a new better era for us, SA has been through the most guyzini," she tweeted.

Samke added in another post: "I may have felt sorry for him during his speech and hearing him saying he's resigning - but I'm not sad that he's gone."

AKA did not appear to reply to Samkelo, but he shared another post saying South Africans had something to be proud about.
