Cassper Nyovest adamant 'Braai Show' will go on despite AKA's objections

AKA has demanded that season two of 'The Braai Show' be brought to a halt, but Cassper Nyovest believes it will go on as planned.

"Let me tell you something #TheBraaiShowWithCass is gonna start playing September 8th on SABC 1."

Those are the words of Cassper Nyovest after AKA served the SABC with a cease and desist letter.

The public broadcaster announced over a week ago that Cassper will be replacing AKA on 'The Braai Show'. Season two will be called 'The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest'.

But while the 'Good For That' rapper was busy celebrating his new gig, his arch-nemesis, AKA, was filing legal papers.

AKA says he legally owns 50% of the show's copyright and is therefore entitled to half of the show's proceeds received.

"In accordance with the agreement, the parties agreed that the entire copyright (whether vested contingent or future) and all other rights in and to the work created, including merchandising or remake rights of whatsoever nature would be jointly vested in the parties, being MakhudoCom and our client,” his lawyers say.

Cake Media, the production company working on the show, says AKA is not involved in the second season.

According to the Daily Sun, the production company has demanded that the rapper retract all comments and accusations he made on social media.

Cake Media says AKA has no copyright claims to the show, and any suggestion otherwise is "incorrect and malicious".

Cassper is confident that the show will go on as planned next month.

"There will be noise for 2 weeks from his fans saying I suck, then the show is gonna blow up and ima cash out. If he owns it he woulda stopped the show from airing. It's not happening."

Cassper says "people are just making senseless noise". He adds that he is not involved in the legal drama and has already been paid for her services.

"I am in no way attached to anything here. I got paid for a service. I delivered a service and I damn well enjoyed shooting #TheBraaiShowWithCass. It is shot already, I got paid already. It's funny looking at people arguing about something that's done."
