Cardi B sued for throwing microphone at fan during show
Updated | By Music Reporter
Cardi B's legal team says a lawsuit filed against her is a "pitiful attempted financial shakedown".

A concertgoer is suing Cardi B after she threw a microphone at her during a show in Las Vegas in 2023.
According to reports, the 'Up' hitmaker is being sued for assault, battery, and negligence.
The woman, who filed the lawsuit as a Jane Doe, was attending a show at Drai's Beachclub when the incident occurred.
A viral video shows Cardi B throwing her mic at a woman in the crowd after she hurls a drink at her while performing her #1 hit 'Bodak Yellow'.
Before the incident, the rapper encouraged fans to throw water at her. However, it seems Cardi B was upset that the woman threw the liquid at her face and not her body.
She briefly stopped performing and looked visibly upset.
The mic used in the incident was later auctioned for a whopping $100 000 (R1,761,845).

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jane Doe says the incident caused her "physical pain, emotional distress, reputational damage, embarrassment, and harassment from both media and members of the public".
Lawyers for the woman say Cardi B implicitly authorised and invited light splashing from drinks, and their client was "acting in accordance with the environment" she created.
"Multiple attendees responded in kind, throwing drinks toward the stage, several of which visibly reached Cardi B and the surrounding performance area."
Cardi B's lawyers have dismissed the lawsuit as a "transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown".
"The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up."
The rapper, who is preparing for the release of her new album, is not the first musician to have something thrown at her while performing onstage.
In 2023, a woman threw her mother's ashes on stage during a P!nk concert.
Bebe Rexha needed stitches after a fan threw a phone at her. It landed on her face, causing an injury to one of her eyes.
