BTS announce hiatus in emotional video - 'We promise we will return someday'

K-Pop supergroup BTS are going their separate ways! The seven-member boyband announced the shocking news on Tuesday.

BTS members - Jungkook, V, Jin, RM, Suga, J-Hope, and Jimin - got teary-eyed as they spoke about their temporary split in a video they shared on YouTube

"We're each going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things," Jungkook said.

The 'Butter' hitmakers stressed that they are not breaking up for good. 

"We promise we will return someday, even more mature than we are now," Jungkook added.  The group's management team also clarified that this not goodbye forever.

"[They] will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats," a rep told E! News

BTS has collaborated with artists such as Coldplay and David Guetta. Some of their hit singles include 'Dynamite', 'Mic Drop', and 'Fake Love'. 

The South Korean group have broken several records throughout their nine-year career.  They have more than 23 Guinness World Records. 

According to Billboard, they are the first K-pop group to earn a top 10 single on the Hot 100. BTS also made music history when their single 'Dynamite' spent 32 week on the chart. 

They are also a Grammy-nominated group. They were nominated for 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' at the 2022 Grammys.
