The rumour mill has gone into overdrive with claims that TV presenter Ayanda Thabethe is dating a married man.

Despite making it clear last month that she is not dating nor does she have a child with a married man, the rumours refuse to die down.

The claims heated up again after Ayanda was spotted in Dubai celebrating her "mystery" man's birthday.  She did not share any pictures of him on her social media timelines, but they were spotted together on various Instagram Stories.

Entertainment blogger Musa Khawula claims the man in question is businessman Peter Matsimbe.

Scores of people once again took to social media to slam her for flaunting her relationship with a man who is allegedly married.

"I don't care what anyone says..Ayanda Thabethe publicly living it up in Dubai with her boyfriend who is married doesn't sit well with me..I feel for the wife," one Twitter user wrote.

But one user cautioned people against making assumptions about their relationship: "We don’t know the dynamics of his marriage. What if he wants to take her as a second wife? Or he is separated with the wife."

Ayanda decided to speak up for herself after days of silence. Her lawyers released a statement on Saturday slamming the "out of control" rumours.

The statement is supported by the 36-year-old's partner, who was referred to as "PM".

Ayanda's lawyers called the rumours false and defamatory.

"The rumour that Ms. Thabethe is in a relationship with a married man is not true and we have not been provided with evidence proving otherwise. PM is not in any marriage or union recognised by law," the statement read.

It continued: "Despite the facts, Ms. Thabethe and PM have found themselves to be on trending topics that are hateful, heinous, and defamatory. The said rumors have stained Ms. Thabethe’s reputation and the brand she has worked very hard to build.”

Ayanda and her team have threatened legal action.

“We are aware of the ‘social pages’ that stated the rumours about Ms Thabethe, and the perpetrators are currently being investigated. Action will be taken against the perpetrators and we again encourage you to refrain from spreading false information,” read the statement."
