There have been mixed reactions to AKA's complaint about SAA's music playlist.

'Lemons' rapper AKA is not impressed with South African Airways' (SAA) choice of music. The 34-year-old took to Twitter this week to vent after a flight.

"As a STATE-OWNED ENTERPRISE, in other words, financed by the treasury, in other words, funded by you and me … the taxpayer. What business does @flysaa have playing NON-South African music on its domestic flights … why am I disembarking to the sound of Michael Buble?" he asked.

While some Twitter users agreed - with one tweep saying "they don't play local music at all" - many felt otherwise.

"Music is universal; just like your music is played everywhere and you're allowed to perform anywhere in the world otherwise you wouldn't be as big as you are," one man commented.

Another user added: "Not a lot of South Africans book @flysaa for domestic travel. It’s very expensive compared to others. So it doesn’t really matter."

But one tweep insisted that "international travelers must listen to South African music so they get immersed in the South African culture".

Some Twitters users questioned why the 'Fela in Versace' rapper and many South African musicians, always insist on local support when they prefer international brands.

"It must be the same reason South Africans mostly you guys influencers rap with Versace not Drip, Gucci not Bathu, etc. I hope you understand things that y’all influence and backfire on your pockets at the end," one user replied.

Another added: "Celebrities influence most people to love foreign music, clothes, cars, etc. and complain later when these things permeate throughout our society. I hope he sobers up and considers to what extent he contributes to that which he now complains about."

It's not the first time AKA has complained about SAA's music playlist.

"Dear @flysaa why do you play ANYTHING that is NOT SOUTH AFRICAN in our planes? You are the FLAG carrier airline of our country, furthermore you are a STATE-OWNED entity. Please explain to us why I am listening to Michael Buble as I disembark? Disgraceful," he tweeted in 2019.
