Concern was raised yesterday when ballot boxes were found in a tent behind a counting station in Zwide, Port Elizabeth.

With 98% of the results already in for Nelson Mandela Bay, the final declaration was put on hold until today because of the dispute.

The ANC's chief whip in Parliament Jackson Mthembu confirmed the withdrawal of the dispute this morning.

"Looking at the nature of the dispute we decided that we should withdraw that dispute and we continue with our lives and accept that we have lost Nelson Mandela Bay."

Mthembu confirmed there would be no recount in the metro, adding that while the ANC was magnanimous, the party would also accept defeat if it came their way.
