Student body supports UKZN protest against outsourcing

There are protests again at UKZN's Howard Campus where outsourced workers want to be employed directly by the institution.

In a show of force by students and workers, 75% of the campus had been shut down as of 11am today.
Sasco's Lwandile Mtsolo says they plan to stop all academic programmes on the campus.

"The main reason is that they pay ridiculous prices. The university coughs up R14 000 per head of a security guard but these capitalist companies pay R1700.
"We say that this is ridiculous and we cannot accept that. It's modern day slavery and we're not going to accept it," he said.
