Taylor Swift made an emotional return to the stage in Brazil following the death of a fan.

A 23-year-old woman named Ana Clara Benevides died at a show in Rio de Janeiro last week. The psychology student reportedly collapsed at the open-air stadium venue due to the extreme temperatures.

The city was experiencing a heatwave at the time. According to several reports, Rio de Janeiro recorded a heat index on Friday and Saturday of around 59 degrees Celsius.

Footage from Friday's concert shows Taylor visibly gasping for air during her performance.

The heat was so bad that Taylor handed out bottled water to some audience members.

The 'Anti-Hero' singer ended up postponing Saturday's show as a result of the unbearable heat.

She returned to the stage on Sunday. The temperatures were much cooler and it even rained.

Taylor got emotional while singing 'Bigger Than the Whole Sky'. She did not mention Ana's name during the performance, but the song appeared to be a tribute to her.

The 33-year-old sang:

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You were bigger than the whole sky
You were more than just a short time

Taylor has four more shows in Brazil before she wraps up the South American leg of her tour. She will then take a break until February 2024.

She'll be visiting Japan, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden, the UK, and several other countries in the new year.
