Singer-songwriter SZA is celebrating a significant music milestone.

The 35-year-old's album 'SOS', which was released in December 2022, has tied a record set by Michael Jackson's 1982 album 'Thriller'

According to a post shared by Chart Data on X, ".@sza's 'SOS' officially ties Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' as the longest-running top 10 album by a black artist in Billboard 200 history."

SZA's manager, Terrence "Punch" Henderson, shared the post on his own profile.

"Insane," he wrote

Both 'SOS' and 'Thriller' have spent 79 nonconsecutive weeks in the top 10.

"My album tying MJ’s 'Thriller' record … Got me speechless," she told TMZ

'SOS' was SZA's second studio album and it received significant praise from music critics, with Pitchfork rating it 8.7.

"SZA’s long, ambitious, luxurious new album solidifies her position as a generational talent, an artist who translates her innermost feelings into indelible moments," the publication said

The 23-track album includes the hit singles, 'Kill Bill' and 'Snooze'.

The project earned SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, nine nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards including 'Album of the Year'.

She won 'Best Progressive R&B Album' while her songs 'Snooze' and 'Ghost in the Machine' featuring Phoebe Bridgers took home 'Best R&B Song' and 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' respectively.

An iconic image of Princess Diana inspired the album artwork. SZA sits on the edge of a white diving board positioned over the ocean.

Diana was photographed in a similar pose in 1997 during a holiday in Portofino, Italy. It was taken one week before she died.

"Originally, I was supposed to be on top of a shipping barge, but in the references that I pulled for that, I pulled the Diana reference, because I just loved how she isolated she felt, and that was what I wanted to convey the most," SZA said in an interview.
