Barbadian singer Rihanna has shared an update on new songs she is working on, possibly for her long-awaited ninth studio album.

It's been eight years since the singer has released an LP, and her fans are impatiently wait for her to drop 'R9', as they have dubbed it.

Comments she made this week have renewed hoped that she is finally working on her album.

The 36-year-old was in London to promote her latest Fenty x Puma collaboration. While walking the red carpet, the 'Lift me Up' hitmaker revealed that she has been recording new music.

An Entertainment Tonight (ET) reporter asked the mom of two if her sons, RZA and Riot, might feature on her upcoming album.

"I mean, it's up to them. I already got stuff that I feel I could make hits out of. Yeah, really," she said.

Rihanna added that the songs are "so good" that even her partner A$SAP Rocky is impressed.

"Me and Rocky are really trying to figure out who is going to use what," she told ET

Rihanna surprised her fans in 2022 when she released a song for the 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' soundtrack. 'Lift Me Up' was her first solo release since dropping her 2016 album, 'ANTI'.

Rihanna has spent the past several years focusing on her Fenty brand, which has helped turn her into a billionaire

She has not revealed a release date or official name for her ninth studio album.

Despite the uncertainty, A$AP Rocky assured Rihanna's fans in a video shared on X (Twitter) in February: "[She’s] working on it."
