Be the band rocks Gateway
Updated | By Sihle Mthembu

After several hundred entrants were whittled down to the final four, #BeTheBand finals rocked Gateway this past weekend.
Under the picturesque scene of the Royal Palm Court, music was the order of the night as the semi-finalists sang their hearts out for that coveted R50 000 Gateway music prize and the chance to be the opening act at #BPDurbanDay
The competition this year was stiff and our judges which included man of the moment Kyle Deutsch and Tree 63 frontman John Ellis had a lot of hard decisions to make.
Soul singer Simthandile Mtolo swept aside the competition with her luscious voice.
Having performed some of her own songs alongside covers of jams by Mafikizolo, Esperenza Spalding and Naima Kay, Simthandile proved that she has a lot of range and that is what impressed the judges.
The next stop for Simthandile is #BPDurbanDay come September 6th.
Here is a little sneak peek of what you can expect on that day from Simthandile
