Miley Cyrus has released her highly anticipated album, 'Endless Summer Vacation'.

The 'Flowers' hitmaker also dropped a new single from the album called, 'River'. The song's music video was also released on the same day.

Miley explained how the song came about ahead of its Friday release.

"It was a time in my life where I was going through just a lot emotionally and personally. And I guess, all of my songs kind of evolve. They can start as something that was a trouble, like, it just feels like it’s an April shower, it never stops raining and then it started raining down love” she said in a clip shared on her Instagram page.

The 30-year-old described the song as a dance floor banger - emphasis on the word banger - because she can't say what it is really about.

“Sometimes we just need a dance floor banger a.k.a. they don’t want me to talk about the fact the song is about [bleep]. It’s f***ing nasty.”

Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers' success

'River' is the second single Miley has released from 'Endless Summer Vacation'. The album's lead song, 'Flowers', was a major global success.

The track - which was released on 13 January 2023 - has spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Miley also broke a Spotify record with the single after it recorded 100-million streams in a single week.

'Flowers' is allegedly about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. It was released on his birthday

Her fans have also found easter eggs that allegedly make reference to her relationship with the Australian actor.

Social media users also believe that the song's lyrics and chorus also mirror a famous Bruno Mars song. Liam allegedly dedicated 'When I Was Your Man' to Miley at one point in their relationship.
