Kelly Khumalo disses Crown Gospel Awards after failing to win

The ‘Empini’ hitmaker has vowed never to enter the awards anymore!

Kelly Khumalo has joined the likes of The Weeknd, DJ Black Coffee, and Makhadzi in complaining about top music awards shows.

The 36-year-old was a nominee at the 2020 Crown Gospel Awards for her song ‘ ‘Esiphambanweni’ which features the legendary Dr Hlengiwe Mhlaba.

The track has been dominating the airwaves and trending on various streaming platforms. It is currently sitting on over 900 000 views on YouTube after one month of being uploaded.  

‘Esiphambanweni’ was nominated for the Best Gospel Song award alongside Tshwane Gospel Choir for 'Imvuselelo', Vusi Nova & Dumi Mkokstad 'Yibanathi', and Canaan Nyathi for 'Baba Ziveze'.

The award went to  Canaan Nyathi.

Khumalo took to Twitter to complain about the snub.

“ Esphambanweni Vs Baba Ziveze? Someone please balance me? I would have been ok with Jehova uzoyigcina impilo yami or Bawo Yiba nathi bazalwane musani ukuganga ngathi,” she wrote.

She even went as far as stating that will not enter the Crown Gospel Awards again.
