Kelly Khumalo is the latest South African celebrity to get her own reality show.

'Life With Kelly Khumalo' debuted on Showmax on Thursday to much excitement from the singer's fans.

The show is produced by BarLeader, the company behind 'Being Bonang', 'Somizi & Mohale: The Union' and 'Kwa Mam’Mkhize'.

Kelly gives her fans an up-close-and-personal look into her life behind the controversial tabloid headlines.

"The woman that you see in front of you is self-made. I can't say I have a point of reference when it comes to being a good woman. However, I am now ready to embrace the greatness that God has created me for," The 'Dance Comigo' hitmaker says in the opening sequence of her show.

Here's a look at three things you will learn about Kelly on her new show.

Being a single mom is tough

Kelly is a single mother of two. She shares her son Christian with Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye - whom she says she has not seen in years. Her daughter Thingo also has a famous father - late Bafana Bafana star Senzo Meyiwa.  Kelly reveals on the show that Thingo has started asking questions about her father.

“How do I start the conversation? How do I even tell my daughter who her father is and what happened to him? Because this is such a heavy story for a five-year-old," she says.

She is still fighting with her sister Zandile

Kelly and her sister Zandile, also known as Zandie, had a public falling out earlier this year. The drama started when Zandie's husband, Mhlo Gumede, was accused of using Kelly's name to book gigs with event organisers.

Gesh Lounge and Entertainment owner Bhekani Ndlovu claimed Mhlo scammed him out of thousands of Rands. Kelly released a statement saying she was unaware of the gig in question and made it clear that her brother-in-law was not her manager.

Zandie took offence to the statement and declared she was "divorcing" Kelly as a sister. Their feud comes up on her reality show. Their mother, Ntombi Khumalo, urges Kelly to reconcile with her sister.

"When I pass on, I want to leave you and Zandile united," their mom says.

She is a boss babe

The cameras follow Kelly around as she prepares to launch her new gin line, Controversy Gin. But her plans were put on ice when South Africa's lockdown resulted in alcohol being banned.  She also had to put the breaks on the gigs she had planned for the launch of her new album,  The Voice of Africa, as concerts were also banned.

Kelly did not let the setbacks hold her back.

“At the end of the day, I’m a mom who’s making a living and has to protect her business with everything she has."
