He says soon after that, he found himself making music at the studio.

Not only did he do a song for Texas group, Surfaces, but he also got to work with the incredibly talented The Weeknd.

“I went in the studio and wrote something with the Weeknd when I was there,” Elton told The Guardian.

However, he says he is not sure whether The Weeknd will release the song.

“Whether he’ll release it or not, I don’t know," said Elton.

He also revealed that he is fascinated by The Weeknd's writing process.

"It was fascinating to see the way he works. I write songs from start to finish, I’m old-fashioned; these people take bits of melodies and make a collage. Songwriting doesn’t have to be the same old form of songwriting,” he said.

The Lockdown Sessions

Elton John's much-awaited album is coming out today, 22 October.

The album has over 20 featured artists. Some of them include; Stevie Wonder, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, and the late Glenn Campbell.

It has 16 songs including 10 new ones.

The first single to be released from the album, 'Cold Heart', made it to the top spot of the UK Charts.

Elton is the only solo artist in Official UK Chart history to score a Top 10 single in six different decades.
