Avril Lavigne is 'Young & Dumb' in new music video
Avril Lavigne says her new song with Simple Plan captures the nostalgia they experienced when they started chasing their dreams.
She might not be reminiscing about the 'Sk8er Boi' she met in high school, but Avril Lavigne's new single takes her back to the early 2000s.
The 40-year-old has released a new song called 'Young & Dumb' featuring the rock band Simple Plan.
Lavigne released the track a few days before the next leg of her 'Greatest Hits Tour' starts on May 18.
"Let's release a new song for the tour! Last year’s Greatest Hits Tour was so f***in' incredible that we extended it into this year for another round this summer. So…. I really wanted to drop a new song in time for the tour for you all," she wrote on Instagram.
Simple Plan is one of the supporting acts on the tour.
"What makes it even more meaningful is getting to share this experience with my friends, Simple Plan. It's really a full circle moment because not only did they tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits tour but we also toured together in 2003 on my first arena tour, when I was 18 and touring my first album ‘Let Go’," she continued.
"We were so young, all from small towns in Canada and put our first albums out at the same time. We became friends right away."

Lavigne and Simple Plan started their careers around the same time, and their new song captures the exciting time when they were young, dumb and living their best lives.
"We wanted the song to capture the nostalgic feelings of this unique moment in our lives when we were both just starting out and chasing our dreams. We wanted our fans to know that in our hearts, we’re still the same kids we were back then and that our love for music has never changed," she said.
The Canadian singer-songwriter adds that the single is about friendship and how music kept them connected all these years.
"The song is about feeling nostalgic, while loving where you are right now."
Laivigne burst onto the music scene with her debut album, 'Let Go', which was released in 2002.
The album produced hit songs such as 'Complicated', 'I'm With You', and 'Losing Grip'.
She followed up the success of her first album with 'My Happy Ending', 'Girlfriend', and 'When You're Gone'.
Her recent singles include 'Fake as Hell', 'I'm a Mess' and 'Love it When You Hate Me'.
