White bedding is very popular, especially in hotels and lodges. Because white is a neutral colour, it goes well with any bedroom wall colour.

Using white bedding also gives a sense that the bedding is clean and fresh.

Not only that, but several publications report that the reason many prefer white bedding is because it has a calming effect on the mood.

Using white pillows or ones with white covers requires special care to avoid staining them.

Many white pillowcases change colour over time and can become yellowish. This is due to sweat, hair and face products.

One of the tricks to ensure your pillows remain white is to use a waterproof pillow case or cover.

They protect your pillows from spills, sweat, drool, and stains.

The waterproof pillow covers prevent moisture and liquids from soaking into the pillow and damaging it.

However, if your white pillows have already changed colour, there are a few tricks you can use to restore its colour.

The first method is to use a stain removal spray or cream.

You can also soak the pillow or pillowcase in lemon juice and sunlight. This will help bleach the fabric.

The last method is to make your own whitening paste using baking soda and water. Apply it on the pillows before rinsing.

@itsnicolejaques Most pillows, including those filled with cotton, feather, down, and fiberfill, can be cleaned in a washing machine using warm water on the delicate cycle. Take two pillows and put them on opposite sides to balance the washer drum. If they need scent removal use 1/2 cup baking soda in the drum. If you need to remove stains (yellow) use 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide in the drum. BUT NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. Put in detergent and run. Then air dry. To refluff, put on delicate cycle in the dryer with wool balls, tennis balls or a knitted T-shirt. Enjoy! Was this helpful?
