April is the month with the most public holidays this quarter.

Kids are also on school holidays, making it the perfect time to go on vacation or bond with your family.

If you are thinking about taking leave, then it is wise to look at how you can extend your days by planning around the public holidays.

This will ensure that you enjoy longer breaks without using too many of your leave days.

Easter - The Easter holiday takes place from Friday, 15 April, to Monday, 18 April, which means scheduling leave around this long weekend will see you enjoy a nice break. You can extend your time by taking the Thursday and Tuesday off, which will give you six days of uninterrupted time with your loved ones for just two days of leave.

Freedom Day - This public holiday occurs on Wednesday, 27 April. It is a day where South Africans celebrate the end of apartheid and the first non-racial election in the country. There are two options: either you can take a long break by taking Monday, 25 April, and Tuesday, 26 April, off or you can take Thursday, 28 April, and Friday, 29 April, off. The good news is that 1 May is Worker's Day, which means taking leave from 28 April will allow you to enjoy a break from 27 April until 2 May (Worker's Day carries over to Monday, 2 May) - that is six days of rest for just two leave days. Your much-deserved break will be a lot more enjoyable this way.
