There are two types of families in the world – those who enjoy relaxing by the beach all summer and those who like to get their clothes dirty in the “wild”.

If your family is the latter, then Babanango Game Reserve’s Matatane Camp will not disappoint.

Located in the White Umfolozi Valley, Matatane Camp is known for its beautiful views.

The camp, which is situated near the Nhlazatshe mountain, has two tented villages.

Each tent sleeps six people and families can choose between catered and self-catered options.

Adventure junkies are spoiled for choice at Matatane Camp. Some of the adventure activities include mountain biking.

The camp is also completing an Activity Centre that will offer abseiling, ziplining, and rock jumping!

Wildlife lovers will be amazed by the animals, birdlife, and butterflies in the area.

A stay at Babanango Game Reserve is not complete without one of its word-class game drives.

“With a range of habitats and varied topography, the reserve offers excellent mammal sightings, including buffalo, giraffe, nyala, zebra and impala. The reserve is also home to rich reptile and invertebrate life, and more than 280 species of bird,” its website reads.

Visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation in the area.

Babanango Game Reserve’s Babanango Valley Lodge and Zulu Rock Lodge are also great places for families to escape the hustle and bustle of their day-to-day lives.

Zulu Rock Lodge offers guided nature drives. Guests can also self-drive to Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift battlefields to learn about the area’s history.

Babanango Valley Lodge’s luxury accommodation overlooks the Nsubeni River valley.

Each of its bedrooms has a beautiful garden, so you can wake up to gorgeous views.
