World of Miniatures Fair 2025: It’s a small world after all
Updated | By Reeshni Chetty-McConnachie
Ahead of the World of Miniatures Fair 2025, East Coast Radio caught up with the Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (DAME) Chairperson, Traci Brass, and legendary radio presenter, Dave Guselli.

The World of Miniatures Fair 2025 is a mini (but mighty) fair that is set to make waves and change lives at the Westville Country Club.
With tiny treasures and legendary radio presenter Dave Guselli leading the way, we can’t wait to see what small wonders await.
The chairperson of the Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (DAME), Traci Brass, shared some information about how this all came about.
“Our little club started in 1992 with just 11 members, growing into a group of around 40 members that we have today. Like all our members, we are passionate about miniature creations, finding joy and fulfilment in our small world of detailed craftsmanship,” she told East Coast Radio.
According to Brass, they’ve been hosting miniature shows since 1994. These shows bring enthusiasts together and give them a space to display their incredible talent while inspiring newcomers to explore this hobby.
“Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, if you have the will and the love for creating tiny masterpieces, success is within reach. It’s a rewarding journey that fosters patience, precision, and imagination,” said Brass.
Speaking about this year’s fair, Brass shared that there’s always room for new talent and fresh ideas and encouraged newbies to start their journey. The theme this year is ‘Cinematography’.
“We will have a stunning arrangement of displays inspired by movies, scenes and iconic cinematic moments. Whether you’re a film buff or simply love storytelling through miniatures, there will be plenty to see and enjoy. We’ve curated an array of displays that showcase the magic of cinema, all crafted in miniature for your admiration,” Brass explained.
Brass shared that they had about 700 guests in 2023, compared to approximately 900 guests last year.
Guselli shared his excitement about his involvement in the World of Miniatures Fair 2025 with East Coast Radio.
“It’s everything small, like a radio DJ’s brain - although I speak for myself,” Guselli said.
“Seriously, you’re going to see scale models, bonsai, dolls houses [sic], fairy gardens, teddy bears [and] miniature porcelain dolls. It really is going to be a cracking day out for the whole family,” he shared enthusiastically.
“Make it a date, you and the family and I’ll see you there for the World of Miniatures Fair. It’s going to be a good one,” the iconic presenter concluded.
