KwaZulu-Natal Museum Winter Holiday Programme 2025

If you are looking for things to do with the kids this winter school holidays, this is cost-effective and promises to be fun, educational and informative.

The kids will officially be on their winter school holiday in just one week. Have you prepared for the 'I'm bored' or 'Mommy, can I have screentime?"

If you are not ready, we suggest you get a plan together. Here's a great starting point: The KwaZulu-Natal Museum Winter Holiday Programme 2025 is a great idea for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. 

"The programme is packed with exciting daily crafts, guided gallery tours, and storytelling adventures designed to inspire young minds!" according to Web Tickets.

The mornings are planned out with fun, educational, and informative activities. Each day's activities cost R35 per child and will keep your kids occupied from 9 to 11 am.

Monday, 30 June – The Eagle Paper Plate Craft
Explore the Birds of Prey Gallery, focusing on eagle species, habitats, and diets.
Create your own eagle using paper plates and colourful craft materials.

Tuesday, 1 July – Hunter-Gatherer Skills: Make a Bow and Arrow
Take a tour through the San Hunter-Gatherers Gallery.
Learn about early survival tools and make a safe, mini bow and arrow.

Wednesday, 2 July – Insect-Inspired Headscarves/Bandanas
Discover amazing bugs in the Invertebrate Gallery.
Use stencils and fabric paint to design your own bug-themed headscarf or bandana.

Thursday, 3 July – Library Adventure & Craft

Enjoy a fun and informative Library Tour, meet the library staff, and learn how books are stored.
Listen to a magical folktale storytelling session.
Create your very own pencil case or storage box.

Friday, 4 July – Moveable Paper Snakes & Live Snake Viewing
Visit the Snake Gallery and learn about different snake species.
See live snakes up close!
Make a moveable paper snake to take home.
