After the New York times bought the game, people are speculating it may no longer be free...
Darren, Keri and Sky have also joined the millions of people obsessed with Wordle. Every morning before or during the show they get their phones out and compete to see who will crack the day's word first.
Earlier this morning in Five Things they shared that New York Times have bought the widely-loved online game.

The newspaper has not guaranteed that the game will continue to be free...
The undisclosed amount for which they bought the is shared to be "in the low seven figures". This the sparked the question on social media whether it would continue to be free.
This is mainly because The Times charge a certain subscription fee for its word games, including the Spelling Bee and daily crosswords.

A spokesperson for The Times told Insider that the company doesn't have "set plans for the game's future" but said that the game would be free "right now."
Josh Wardle, the software engineer who created the game initally for his partner, shared in a statement that Wordle would "initially remain free to new and existing players."
He continued, "It will be free to play for everyone, and I am working with them(NYT) to make sure your wins and streaks will be preserved.

We hope that when they monetize it eventually, it doesn't cost that much!
