Shopping malls will start to help out the community more...
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has announced changes to revamp the department’s systems.
This is in light of the long queues at Home Affairs around the country. This move plans to cut down on waiting times by introducing branches in shopping centres.
The minister stressed that while the department is in the process of building new branches around the country, the introduction of Home Affairs offices inside shopping malls will provide for relief in some areas.
Motsoaledi has confirmed discussions are already underway with the following shopping malls around the country:
- Menlyn Mall in Tshwane
- Cresta Mall in Johannesburg
- Southgate Mall in Johannesburg
- The Pavillion in eThekwini
- Tygervalley Mall in Cape Town
Operating Home Affairs offices at malls will obviate the problem of queuing in the sun or rain. Malls will also provide convenient and safe parking for clients- Aaron Motsoaledi
While the shopping malls still have to make space for Home Affairs branches, the installation of equipment will start in September this year.
