Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Another person has lost their life as a result of the Durban storm.
A former police officer was killed after a container fell onto his car in the Bayhead area earlier.
KZN police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the man had been in his vehicle with an off duty officer when the incident occurred.
The other occupant of the vehicle was rushed to hospital with severe injuries.
"A container from a truck blew off and fell on top of their vehicle. A former police officer died instantly. An off duty officer was rushed to hospital for treatment. We are going to open an inquest docket and the matter will be investigated further," he says.

This morning, a municipal worker died when a wall she was using as shelter from the storm collapsed on the Durban beachfront.
A 46-year-old man also drowned while trying to cross a river this morning.
Local government officials say an eight-year-old girl was struck by lightening last night outside her home last night.
