While the entire country will move down to Level 3 lockdown on Monday, eThekwini and Ilembe have been identified as hotspots where stricter measures will remain in place.

This is according to COGTA Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma who addressed the nation from Pretoria on Thursday.

She says because of the rise in COVID-19 cases in areas identified as hotspots, measures which include limitation of movement will be put in place.

On domestic travel, the minister said inter-provincial travel remains banned, except for those who have to cross provinces for work purposes.

She also said pupils and teachers needing to cross provinces as schools reopen would be allowed to do so, while domestic air travel will be permitted at a later date to be announced by Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula.

On the sale of alcohol, Dlamini-Zuma has provided a run down how this will work come 1 June.

"The sale of liquor in licensed premises will now be permitted as of the 1st of June 2020, for the limited period between Mondays and Thursdays from 09h00 and 17h00.

"However, onsite consumption is prohibited, and e-commerce sales will be permitted subject to the same onsite trade days and times.

"The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competitions will elaborate in this regard, suffice to say no special or events liquor licenses will be issued for the duration of the state of national disaster."
