SA lockdown: PMB taxi operations resume
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) says it's reached an agreement with the Transport Department on taxi services under the lockdown.
In Pietermaritzburg, taxi owners shut operations down in Edendale after bumping heads with law enforcement officers.
The issue was over the maximum number of passengers they were allowed to carry.

SANTACO KZN spokesperson, Sifiso Shangase says drivers can now transport nine passengers per trip.
"The capacity that a mini-bus taxi is allowed to commute is 15 passengers. Nine out of 15 is 60 percent that we should adhere to. We have communicated this to all our operators, and that is how the operation resumed."
