Here's a list of bans to stay when SA moves into lockdown level 4 in May

President Cyril Ramaphosa says all forms of gatherings apart from funerals and work, will remain prohibited once the level 4 coronavirus lockdown comes into effect.

Current regulations ban funeral gatherings of more than 50 mourners.

But, on Thursday night, Ramaphosa announced government's plans on how it will gradually ease the lockdown restrictions.

He says on 1 May, the current regulations will loosen a bit to allow for some activity, but under strict precautions.

People can now exercise but under strict public health conditions.

However, he's listed what will remain prohibited. 

"Bars and shebeens will remain closed."

"Conference and convention centres, entertainment venues, cinemas, theatres, and concerts will remain closed."

"Concerts, sporting events, and religious, cultural and social gatherings will not be allowed until it is deemed safe for them to continue," he said. e

Ramaphosa's advised the public who are not essential services to remain at home.

We will hear from ministers serving on the National Command Council this morning on the implementation of the directives as outlined by the President.

South Africa currently has 3 953 cases of the coronavirus, while there has been 75 COVID-19 deaths across the country. KZN has 807 cases with at least 27 deaths. The good news is that there has been 241 recoveries.

The eThekwini Metro is one of the top six municipalities in South Africa at the centre of COVID-19 cases.

"From the evidence we have, we know that 75 percent of confirmed coronavirus cases are found in just six metro municipalities – Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Cape Town, Buffalo City, eThekwini and Mangaung."
