eThekwini's recreational facilities reopen with conditions

eThekwini Municipality says strict measures and social distancing must be practised when some public amenities and parks reopen across the city for people to exercise.

Public gatherings are not allowed. 


A number of Parks, Botanic Gardens, Nature Reserves and Sports Grounds will reopen on Monday for walkers, runners, cyclists and yoga workouts.

The municipality's Msawakhe Mayisela says access to these places will be limited to avoid overcrowding. They'll allow a maximum of ten in a group. 


"We must all be mindful of the fact that we are still on the grip of COVID-19 and as a result, regulations of the country's lockdown must not be disregarded. 


"We must remember that it is our responsibility that we work together to arrest the spread of the coronavirus. 


"Let us ensure that we continue to wear our masks, we continue to social distance, to sanitize and many other things that will assist us to arrest the scourge of the coronavirus," says Mayisela.
