Covid-19 lands Thulas Nxesi in hospital

Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi has been admitted to hospital for Covid-19.

Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu confirmed on Tuesday that Nxesi was admitted in hospital the previous night. 

“His admission to hospital comes on the advice of his medical doctors, in order for him to have access to better medical attention and proper monitoring.”

Nxesi's hospital admission comes a week after he tested positive for coronavirus.

He is the second minister to have landed in hospital as a result of Covid-19.

On Monday night, Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe was also admitted to hospital.

Mantshe and his wife Nolwandle tested positive for coronavirus a week earlier.
