9 busted for counterfeit cigarettes, dagga in KZN roadblock

Nine men, arrested in a North Coast roadblock - where police confiscated counterfeit cigarettes and dagga - are due to line up in the Empangeni Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Kwambonambi police stopped and searched two minibus taxis on N2 this past weekend.
Two men were arrested after officers found cartons of illegal cigarettes in their possession.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says on a bus, officers found two bags of dagga, before arresting a 30-year-old man.

Naicker says three passenger vehicles were then pulled over and another six men arrested.
"Suspects aged between 25 and 53 were arrested after they were found in possession of illicit cigarettes and alcohol in their vehicles.
"A 26-year-old was arrested for being in illegal possession of a firearm after police officers stopped his vehicle.
"The vehicle was stopped after the passenger passed undesirable remarks at the police officers, who were arresting men with cigarettes and alcohol. All nine men were detained," says Naicker.
