Big Favour: Khan family's second chance thanks to KZN organisation

Welcome to another edition of The Big Favour with Darren, Keri, and Sky.

The recent #KZNFloods once again showed us the spirit of Ubuntu in KZN. Communities came together and continue to do so to help those in need.

Naseem Khan is a born and bred Durbanite. He wrote to the Big Favour and nominated his wife. 

They have been trying to start a family for years. Mrs Khan is currently pregnant after she miscarried in February 2022. The married couple found out they were expecting again at the end of March 2022 and the bundle of joy is due on 30 November 2022.

His wife is extremely ill and has been in and out of hospital many times. In the past two months, she has had to go for scans following her miscarriage, which cost R4,000.

Costs that their medical aid doesn't cover are starting to pile up.

To make matters more complicated, there has been added responsibility taken on by Naseem.

He is taking care of the child of a family member who passed away nine years ago. There's also the care of his parents' household, as well as the wife's mom's. Naseem has maxed out the credit cards and taken out loans to fulfil the duties bestowed upon him, but now it's all caught up with him.

In came Melanie Ungerer, who is the Managing Director at FML Freight Solutions, to ease the burden off Naseem as she listened to this emotional story.

Melanie and her team reached out to the family via Big Favour and heard their plea. FML Freight Solutions would like to donate R50,000 in cash to the Khan family, which will be able to assist Naseem in paying off all outstanding bills he has for his wife.
