The time a pilot landed his aircraft unannounced at OR Tambo to drop a friend off for a flight
Catch flights, not feelings! Back in September, a passenger got the royal treatment of being dropped off on the runway to catch his connecting flight - thanks to his friend, the pilot.
It was one of the most bizarre trips we've ever heard of, so we had to recap the moment.
Back in September this year, a light aircraft made an unannounced landing at OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg.
"Only in South Africa! 😂😂 Light aircraft gatecrashes OR Tambo taxiway without having filed a flight plan and proceeded to land, while other aircrafts were queuing up to take off. According to ATC, the pilot said he was dropping off a friend who needed to catch a connecting flight!" the video was captioned, which was originally shared by South African Live.

Action was called to be taken against the pilot and owner of the aircraft as neither got clearance to land at one of South Africa's busiest airports.
We did not see any updates following this incident, but it was certainly one that left us scratching our heads.
