Jenni Johnson is our resident ‘Baby Whisperer’. She’s been a practicing child-care practitioner for 15 years, and owns a busy ante and post natal clinic in Durban.

Jenni teaches a system that has given parents structure and routine to the baby and childhood years.

Jenni has a nursing background. She’s a registered nurse, midwife, psychiatric nurse and private nurse practitioner.

“In my working hours I spend 45 minutes with each consultation that I do and have always felt a need to reach out to more new parents but could not, simply because there are not enough hours in a day! …so I launched an online clinic in 2009,” she says.

“Through the years I have had many clients from all over the world. They buy consultations online [www.jennisays.com] and have the back up of being able to ask me questions relevant to their child/children at any time.

“From the one-month old baby who hadn’t stopped crying from birth, to the mum who was so unsure about everything, to the year-old child who had never eaten a finger food, to the 19-month-old toddler who had never slept for longer than an hour at a time - my clinics allow me the opportunity to help solve these concerns for all new parents.”

Jenni is compiling the knowledge she’s gained into a series of booklets that will become chapters of a book that she is hoping to publish in 2013.

“As the years have passed, I find myself bringing life skills into the advice I give and am finding that whether teaching a parent about a child, or a child to sleep properly, or how to behave - it is in a sense the same thing - because with direction, consistent advice, routine, understanding and nurturing the end result will be successful.”
