We're proud to announce the launch of our second recipe book East Coast Tables: The Inland Edition by Erica Platter and Clinton Friedman.

The sequel to the international award-winning East Coast Tables will be available at the East Coast Radio House and Garden Show from 28 June 2013.

It highlights food and ingredients from KwaZulu-Natal’s inland region - travelling through the Midlands right up to the Drakensberg. This is not just any recipe book; the farm-to-plate documentary style book features contributions by local cooks and chefs, personal interviews and stunning location photography.

“Our first foray into publishing a food book in 2010 was an astonishing success. East Coast Radio is now proud to bring you a second edition which is a culinary showcase of the people and produce of KZN’s Midlands and mountains. East Coast Tables: Inland Edition is an authentic portrayal of local food, life and culture. It is a true celebration, Funsunzi-style!” says ECR's General Manager Trish Taylor.

Author Erica Platter meanwhile says that if you enjoyed the first book, you'll love this one. “Photographer Clinton Friedman and I are both thrilled to complete our praise song to the great food of the province with this second book. Inland KZN is a greedy (but discerning) eater's delight. Beautiful beef, luscious butter and cheese, fat chickens, lean pigs, crispy ducks, much more. Wickedly good.”

The book doesn’t just feature home-grown produce, but home-grown food heroes. Recipe contributors include foodies like South Africa’s first Master Chef Winner Deena Naidoo, the founder of the country’s first black-owned chef school Futhi Ngomane and Jackie Cameron, one of the country’s top 10 chefs. Other big name contributors are Sprinbok rugby player Pat Lambie, who was schooled in the Midlands and renowned author John van de Ruit.

East Coast Tables: The Inland Edition will initially be available exclusively at the East Coast Radio House and Garden Show between 28 June and 7 July at a cost of R250. It will hit the shelves on 8 July at a cost of R295.
