What to wear to Durban Day
Updated | By Staff Writer
It's Durban Day this weekend, so get ready for fun in the sun with flirty florals, tassles and some skin. Our stylist Miss Buttons and The Breakfast Stack's Natarah Nadesan give some ideas to get you into the spring zone.
Last weekend Cape Town made a snow man on Table Mountain, Jozi plummeted to zero degrees and in Durban…we played in the hot, hot sunshine to celebrate the first of spring.
This weekend it’s Durban Day so get ready for more fun in the sun with flirty florals, tassles and some skin.
Here are some ideas to get you into the Spring zone.
The party dress:
One of the hottest trends this Spring/Summer is the party dress. Keep it cutesy and keep it floral this season.
Paired with the John Lennon brown sunglasses this look has a super hot vintage twist, which works well with gladiator sandals, ballet pumps or hi top sneakers.
The ultimate handbag trend at the moment is the backpack, perfect for a day at the People’s Park.
Natarah is wearing:
Floral Dress R769
John Lennon sunglasses R269
Acid wash backpack R499
The maxi skirt
She’s got the look while sporting at least three of this season’s must dos.
The maxi dress or maxi skirt is a “big do” for the warmer months and is easy to pull off. Look for light or sheer fabrics to ensure the maxi dress or skirt keeps you cool this summer. Avoid cottons or tight fits, it’s all about the flow.
Don’t be afraid to show a bit of skin and embrace the crop top. It’s the little darling of hot trends and because the look isn’t too skimpy you don’t have to be a size zero to pull it off. This crop top is particualy fabulous as it screams feminity with two other very important fashion favs: lace and tassles. Seal the deal with sunnies and you’re ready to rock.
Natarah is wearing:
Floral maxi skirt: R619
Lace crop top: R499
John Lennon sunglasses: R269
All clothing is available at Topshop Gateway. A big thanks to the Topshop team for letting Natarah and I raid the store #TopShopSA
