Love it or hate it, the colder months are approaching and it’s time to crack out the sweaters, jackets and closed shoes too!

I am not looking forward to winter, but thinking of the transition and planning ahead some how makes me feel a little better about being cold.

Today, I am going to give you a few tips on how to take your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn/Winter.

1. Keep your summer dresses.  I am sure that many of you have invested in a few summer dresses, and why should they be tossed aside?! All you have to do is layer. Start with your dress and build layers on top. Add a cardigan, a scarf, maybe even a pair of stockings.  Play around. Do what works for you. And the best part is that if it gets warmer at any point in your day – you can just peel the layers off!

2. Light blazers or jackets are a great way to bridge the seasonal gap. The cool thing is that even though it may be lightweight, you still have the opportunity to add a sweater or cardigan under for the colder days.

3. Leather has been around since before summer, so chances are you have a piece or two in your wardrobe – I know I do! Leather is perfect for chilly weather. A skirt, jacket or even pants are great. Again, layering is your friend.

4. When it comes to shoes, I am afraid you will have pack away your sandals. However, rather than diving straight into a pair of boots, opt for wearing pumps or loafers.

5. Tights & stockings are awesome all year around. But when it comes to changing seasons, you will have to do a style swap. When it comes to stockings, swap your thin, sheer stockings for the thicker opaque stockings. They will keep you warmer. For tights, I suggest you invest in a pair of wool footless tights. The heavier weight fabric is great for the really cold days.
