The power of reflecting on the past year
Updated | By Staff Writer
As we come into the last month of 2013, this is the PERFECT time to look back on the year that has passed and reflect on what worked for you and what didn't in 2013
Reflection is a powerful process for learning and growing and helping you to create a kick-ass 2014!
By reflecting on your life, the events that have happened and the relationships that you have, you will gain valuable insight and amazing lessons to take with you as you continue your life’s journey.
Have you been so busy “doing” that you haven’t had time to reflect?
Reflection is an important process to allow you to really learn from life before you take the next actions.
So carve out an hour this week to take stock of your life…you may want to write down your thoughts on a piece of paper or a journal.
Step 1:
First write down your successes for the year and list at least 10 items. It is important to do the successes first, because it is easy to come up with what’s wrong and what didn’t work. So let’s focus on the positive first! Successes also don’t have to be these huge, pinnacle moments. Successes are anything that has made you feel joy, satisfaction or fulfillment. Go on, write them down now.
Step 2:
Write down what didn’t work in 2013
Step 3:
Then consider the things you’d like to change in your life.
Step 4:
Write down what you really want – in ALL areas – this can include: Relationships, Career, Home life, Family, Heath and Fitness, Wealth and Finances, Personal Development, Travel, The things you Own, Spirituality… Consider all the areas and what you want for 2014.
Once you have done your reflection you will find that you move into greater levels of clarity about your life and how to move forward.
