September brings about that feeling of just wanting to feel good and turning over a new leaf - more so when it comes to fitness.

If you did not take a break from your training in winter this means taking your training up a notch, but if the lazies got the better of you then it's time to get into the swing of things.

Start off slowly and get a training buddy. This does help when the motivation levels are low. If you have gym membership, choose group exercises. You will find that you look forward to your training appointment, be it in the morning before work - or after work.

I have to confess at the start of the year my mission was to have "rock-hard abs" by December - and abs are daily work.

I did my ab work-outs just before going out for a run and somehow I stopped mid-June.

So, I recently spoke to a personal trainer friend of mine and he has given me ab exercises to do daily. Now I have someone to keep me in check.

Tell friends or even family about your training plans so that you have daily reminders about where you should be.

Set realistic goals and remember have FUN!
