Almost everyone feels they could lose a kilo or two - or more - but our local fitness expert Lisa Raleigh says that should not be your main focus.

Here are her top five wellness tips for this week.

- Focus on wellness, not weight loss. Choosing food and workouts only for the kilos you’ll lose sets you up for failure when it comes to maintaining your results. Only balanced routines are sustainable, leaving you energetic and motivated to push on long-term.

- Steam your fresh produce in lemon and garlic for a tasty twist on week night veggies. Adding crushed garlic and lemon wedges to veggies as you steam them guarantees a tastier bite without extra unhealthy calories. Broccoli and cauliflower are particularly delicious.

- Don’t be fooled by farmed raised salmon. These fish have been raised in pens on a diet of corn meal, soy and chicken faeces pellets! Rather stick to wild salmon. These healthier fish eat krill and are rich sources of omega 3.

- As men age, testosterone levels decrease. This means they need as many anti-estrogenic veggies as possible, so opt for plenty of broccoli, kale, spinach, cabbage and cauliflower in meals.

- Keep your weight workouts under an hour. After 60 minutes, your body starts producing more of the stress hormone cortisol, which can have a testosterone-blocking, muscle-wasting effect.
