THURSDAY 14 AUGUST
Daniel Nel’s Glass Exhibition
Daniel Nel has been working on paintings and drawings for the past three years for this deeply personal exhibition entitled “Glass”.
The press realease says: “The exhibition brings together a wide range of practical and conceptual concerns which he has worked through over the years such as dislocation, solitude, fragility, memory, dreaming, and the convergence of multiple realities within a single frame.”
It’s at the new super cool Open Plan, which is another creative venture well worth checking out. All work will be on sale within the price range of R150 – R3500. The exhibition opens on Thursday at 18.30 and runs until August 28.

SATURDAY 16 AUGUST
The Harvest @ Factory Cafe
If you are looking for a chilled Saturday lunch, then head on over to the Factory Café at noon. The Harvest is a pop up event that launches this Saturday and promises live music, tasty food and jam jar cocktails. R40 gets you in. The music starts at 1pm, and will be followed by a screening of the Bok's Test Match.
Sweeny Todd @ the Sneddon
Most of us Generation X people will remember the story of Sweeny Todd told by director Tim Burton, starring the delicious Johnny Depp and fantastical Helen Bonham Carter. Little did we know that it was originally a stage musical noir thriller by contemporary American musical genius Stephan Sodheim. This KickstArt production stars Johannesburg musical theatre star, Jason Ralph in the title role, and local lass, Charon Williams-Ros as Mrs. Lovett. The show is almost in its second week at the Sneddon and seems to be receiving some great reviews. Bookings are all though Computicket. Unfortunately no kids under 10 are allowed. It is a thriller after all.
Remember Marikana Solidarity Benefit Concert @ LIVE
LIVE the Venue is hosting an evening of live music and performance in aid of the Miners Shot Down campaign for justice for the victims of the 2012 Marikana massacre. R50 gets you in, with all proceeds going to the campaign and 50% going directly to the widows and families of the workers. On the programme is a screening of Rehad Desai’s film, Miners Shot Down, as well as music from Hezron Chetty, Nje, Illuminati and Nutscratchers and guests.
