What's on in Durban this weekend

It’s another hot weekend in the city. There’s loads to do, people to see and places to be. Get out there and soak up the 031 funs, before all the vaalies get here!

If you didn't manage to get yourself tickets to John Legend's sold-out Durban show on Friday - don't be too sad.

There's plenty else happening to keep your mind off missing out on seeing him.

Here goes:

THURSDAY 20 NOVEMBER

Bruskies Opening @ 295 Florida Road
Florida Road is going to be a buzzing this December as another little drinking hole opens this weekend.

Bruskies at 295 Florida Road will be opening its doors offering cold beers, chilled vibes and good people.

FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER

Jonoalrighthey @ Cool Runnings
Cool Running’s is one of those secret Durban gems. Their drumming circle parties are the best and this weekend they are playing host to the JONOALRIGHTHEY party tour.  Thor Rixon and Diamond Thug are a pair of Cape Town’s freshest acts and they’ll be joined by Hours, The Sisters and DJ Feugo Heat. The plan is to have a street party under the stars, as we do, but if Mother Nature doesn’t behave the plan is to pack inside for a proper sweat. Tickets are R50 and for more info check out their Facebook Page

SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER

Quiksilver Off The Lip Movember Surf Jam @ Beach Bums
Sixty of South Africa’s top surfers have been invited to take part in a retro 70s showdown for charity. So bring along your hippie love and hang out on the beach for a good cause

Retrobowl @ The Glenwood Bowling Club
It's time to get your team dolled up and ready to roll for an evening of lazy lawn bowls at Glenwood's grande dame: the Berea Bowling Club. Don your retro gear and get down to some groovy tunes, learn a new sport and welcome in the Durban summer.

Goodluck, The Kiffness, Jeremy Loops & Rubber Duc @ Durban Botanic Gardens
This is the first edition of Saturday Night LIVE as part of the Old Mutual Music at the Lake Series, as we welcome four of SA's trendiest jazzy, dancy and groovy acts to the Durban Botanic Gardens. Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo had record crowds a few weeks back so get your tickets early at R140 through webtickets. This one is going to be a goodie.

SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER

Gangs of Ballet @ The Dutch
There’s an awesome new venue next door to Remo’s In Umhlanga village called ‘The Dutch’. Rumour has it, it cost a small fortune to deck out. The interior is impeccable and there are no under 21s allowed. It’s distinctly designed for our mature, refined, trendsetter Durbanites. This Sunday they play host to Gangs of Ballet, and booking is essential. Tickets are R250 and to book you need to talk to the Madame of the house on 060 546 7836 or mail her at [email protected]
