Guy Buttery and Alhousseini Anivolla: Alliance Francaise, Durban
 
Word from Jo'burg fans is this is one not to be missed! Local guitar maestro Guy Buttery and Alhousseini Anivolla, the Niger-born lead guitarist and vocalist of the world renowned nomad blues band Etran Finatawa, are in Durban tonight for the KZN leg of their Southern Africa tour. They're playing at the Alliance Francaise at 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside.
 
Tickets are R90 for non-members, members pay R70. Get there at 7pm. 
 

 
Bushfire Festival: Swaziland
 
Starting tonight and running until Sunday is Swaziland’s MTN Bushfire Festival. The weekend line-up includes Toya Delazy, Euphonic, Jeremy Loops, Black Motion, Bomba Estereo (from Colombia) and Guy Buttery and Alhousseini Anivolla. It’s pitched as a music and arts festival that celebrates creative expression, but that’s not all: 100% of profits go to Aids orphans through the Swazi NGO Young Heroes, while merchandise proceeds go to the non-profit rural community development project - Gone Rural BoMake. Critical Mass: Durban 
 
Critical Mass is a bicycle ride that takes place on the last Friday of every month in over 300 cities worldwide. It’s a very slow and casual ride and is described as “part protest and part celebration”. It aims to highlight the awesomeness of getting around on two wheels, create awareness of bikes as an alternative and sustainable form of transport, build community and celebrate the love of bikes. It’s open to all bicycle types and riders. Riders will leave from Moses Mabhida at 6pm, but best get there at 5.30pm. Take a look at the route map hereAlong the route, Corner Cafe in Glenwood will be hosting a hot dogs special for riders, as well as live music. 
 
 
Klipdrift Premium Urban Smooth Sessions: The Cube, Durban 
 
All around South Africa, The MTV Base and Klipdrift Premium Urban Smooth Sessions bring together some of the most talented artists on stage for an eclectic mix of premium entertainment until the wee hours of the morning.  Catch Zakes Bantwini, Liquideep and Nandi Mngoma at Cube Nightclub, Umhlanga, tonight. East Coast Radio’s Zaba Simbine will also be there between 10.30 and 11.30pm. 
 
13th annual Bierfest: King’s Park, Durban
 
Deutsche Schule Durban’s 13th annual Bierfest will be held at King’s Park Stadium on Saturday. The fun kicks off at 7.30pm with entertainment provided by a traditional German oompah band, followed by well-known local DJ, Michael Zuma. This year tickets are priced at R165 per person. This includes your first 500ml beer and a souvenir beer mug to take home. Enjoy traditional German food and loads of entertainment. Tickets are available from the school only – not on the night. I Heart Market: Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban  
 
It’s the first Saturday of the month, and the gorgeous I Heart Market is on between 9am and 2pm. This Saturday, Miss Earth semi-finalist Julia Mary Gramkow will be encouraging people to drop off second hand clothes at her table and will offer coffee and cupcakes for anyone who donates. All the clothing will be donated to the PMB Children's Home, Durban Children's Home and St Thomas Home for Children. 
 
 
The Royal Show, Ukhozi fm concert: Pietermaritzburg 
 
The Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg wraps up this weekend with the annual Ukhozi fm concert on Sunday. R55 gets you in, gates open at 8am. Ukhozi FM presenters will be sharing the stage with some of the best local artists. More details here.
