Donning masks, local celebrities, fashionistas and industry heads from the hospitality fraternity all made their way to the multipurpose venue on the 31st floor to experience the height of hospitality at the venue, previously known as the Raffles nightclub.

Sky is an incredible venue for a conference, launch or themed evening and can cater for up to 250 people.

Guests sipped bubbling champagne on arrival, and tucked into some scrumptious food, especially supervised by the Tsogo Sun’s head chef, Shaun Munro.

Besides flowing champagne, guests enjoyed aphrodisiac oysters, mouth-watering lamb shanks, sushi and not forgetting some of Durban’s best curries. Desserts included koeksisters, velvet cupcakes, and a variety of chocolates.

EThekwini Municipality’s Logie Naidoo had only praise for the event, saying that it was on a par with the best nightclub venues in New York and was definitely a place where international celebrities would be hanging out in the future .

Sadha Naidoo from KwaZulu-Natal Tourism said, “This is a great venue and it has enhanced the beachfront, adding great value and is most definitely going to stimulate the tourism industry.”

It was also announced by the CEO from Tsogo Sun, Marcel van Aulock, that Southern Sun Elangeni is next on the cards for an upgrade as well as the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World - with a destination mall on the cards, which will have a 2 000 seat conference venue.

After all the formalities were over, it was time to boogie and, of course, Logie Naidoo did not waste any time in getting his jive on with some guests.
